Glossary

realm :
Defines by the AuthName parameter in Apache, it defines a section of the site.
SSL :
Secure Socket Layer. Protocol allowing to transmit communications over the Internet in an encrypted form.
Certificat électronique :
Electronic document guaranteeing owner identity. It contains his public key, the private key being preserved by the owner.
CA :
Certificate Authority. An authority of certification is charged to emit and manage the numerical certificates.
RA :
Registration Authority. A registration authority is in charge of identity checking of the certificate applicant.
DN :
Distinguish Name. Unique unambiguous name which the CA assigns to an entity like the certificate owner.
PKI :
Public Key Infrastructure. A PKI is a management system of public keys for a large scale use.
CSR :
Certificate Signing Request. Request file for certificate signature.
